A Clinical Study of Epilepsy in a Rural Area

Abstract

|
The author had studied 72 cases with clinical seizure who were regularly treated at Jung Eub Hospital between 1985 and 1988. There were 51 male and 21 female (7.3). Ages ranged from 0-59 years with peak incidence in adolescence. In 72 patients. generalized seizure was appeared in 63 patients (87.5 %) and focal seizures in 4 case {5.5.%). In case- of seizure, 51 patients (70.8 %) were idiopathic, 8 patients (11.2 %) were inflammatory disease, 4 patients (5.5 %) were cerebrovascular disease, 4 patients (5.5 %) were brain cancer, 3 patients (4.2 %) were metabolic cause and 2 patients (2.8 %) were head trauma. On EEG, abnormal findings were noticed in 48 patients (77.4 %) On brain CT Scan that was taken in 43 patient, abnormal findings were noticed in 6 patients (14.0%)
